Concerned woman’s facebook post leads to the rescue of 13 dogs and cats

Cassandra Clark of Dallas was taking her dog on his daily walk when she came upon a heartbreaking scene.
On a condo’s balcony, within her view, she noticed a Husky who’d been locked outside in the sweltering Texas heat for hours.
“That dog’s been outside and I haven’t seen any water,” she recalled in a story by CBS DFW.
A few days later, she saw the same Husky, trapped on the same balcony, but this time the situation was even worse. He was locked inside a crate, so small he couldn’t even stand or sit up straight.
“He’s in a small crate and all hunched down,” she said. “He’s crying. He’s wailing his little heart out,” she said in the story.

Terrified for the dog’s safety, she reached out to Dallas Animal Services, and even called 911 to get emergency help. Neither would come out in time.
“They said it’d be a 24 hour response,” she said to CBS. “I said, the dog’s gonna be dead by then.”

Desperate for help, she snapped a photo of the neglected dog, posting it on Facebook and addressing local animal rights activists. Amazingly, Clark’s plan worked, because the post began to spread and it was shared about 700 times by enraged and concerned animal lovers. Luckily, was discovered by a local rescue who jumped in to help.
They sent a volunteer to the location and found that the condo housed not one but two Huskies–plus 4 cats and 7 kittens!
“They said, ‘Yea, there were 13 animals in that little condo,`” Clark explained in the news story.
Apparently the owner wasn’t too attached to her pets because she surrendered the animals, allowing the rescue to take them into safety.
Why anyone would keep an animal that is clearly unwanted will always be a mystery. But lucky for these dogs and cats, someone else was looking out for them.

“You never know what you’re gonna find. You have to speak for those who can’t speak,” Clark told CBS DFW.

We commend this concerned animal lover who took an extra step that saved not just one, but thirteen animals! It’s also important to remember that for every person out there who’s mistreating animals, there are several other good people who will do anything to help.
